Letter to a character final draft

Dear Mr. Creuset,

My name is Sera and I'm a 15 year old high school student. I might be 15 but I kind of understand the company businesses. I want to have my own company when I grow up and I know how to communicate and deal with the customers or with the business partners.

The reason why I'm writing this is to give you some advices so that you can be more successful in your partnerships with other companies.
I believe that your attitude towards people are wrong and you always think that you can do it by yourself. I'm not just talking about your relationship with your partners, but also with your assistants. For example you told Winda that you can handle anything and that this is your business so you don't need any assistance sometimes. You asked Winda about when did she become timid when she told you that you might need her assistance. I don't believe that this is a good way of communication.
Secondly, while you were talking business with the partner you didn't even give a chance to let him talk. You always tried to prove yourself. For example you said "Get out of here. I'll never do business with you disrespectful person. Get out!"

I think that you can fix your communication issues first by listening to people, because I think that listening is the most important thing in communication. You have to be patient and respectful towards people.
Secondly you can think before you speak. You must be careful not to hurt people while you are speaking. Choosing the right words while you're answering people can help you look better as a person. Finally you should be kind. Being kind is one of the most important things that you can do to develop your communication skills.

I believe that if you do the things I told you, you will be better and more successful in your job, because your job is all about communicating with people. People must be important for you. Respect people and they will respect you, too.

Best,
Sera Savas

Dialogue about a famous drawing

Long long time ago, there was a village called Bruis. Villagers at that time were very peaceful. They got up early to plant grain and worked really hard everyday. They didn't  lived in the lap of luxury, but they were comfortable.
However, after Satan arrived, everything has changed...

Hydra: Zeus, my god, Satan destroyed all the village and everything it’s really bad, the villager have no food and no drink, many of them were died. Also, he uses his power to burned my home. I have no place to go.
Zeus:Oh, really? It’s outrageous, and we won't stand for it any more!
Zeus was pretty annoyed when he found out. He used his strongest power to imprison Satan in the Cypress.
Zeus: Look at what you've done Satan.
Satan: Everyone says I'm the monster so the reason why this happened was because of your people. Everyone was yelling at me, thinking I'm the bad one so take this as a judgement.
Zeus: This is not the way to show that you are good. If you continue doing this, people will yell at you and think that you are a bad person.
Hydra:Yes! It's none of my business that people are yelling at you. I became homeless because of you.
Satan: It's too late to complain about what happened. Those people are your problem not mine. So why should I care about them.
Zeus: I don't want to talk to you anymore. You don't have the right to punish people whenever you want. You are not a god.
Hydra: I agree with that!
Satan: Oh really? Your people don't have the right to tell that I'm a bad person, they don't have the right to yell at me!
Zeus: You're going to pay for this.
Satan: I don't think so. I think that you should punish your own people. They are mean, impolite and rude.
Hydra: So are you. Is this how you react when something bad happens? First you should be kind to villagers.
Zeus: You will be prisoned in the Cypress forever.
Satan: No you can't do this to me.
Hydra: You! Go to the prison now!
Satan: Noooooooo

About Creative Writing

Creative writing is a type of writing where writer is able to express himself/herself. In creative writing, writer can use whatever language he wants. In this type of writing there should be personal ideas since it is an original writing. It can be informal and it can contain personal language.

I believe that for a creative writing to be interesting the topic of the writing should be something that interests readers. If the topic isn't related to the readers, it won't be interesting. It should be an original topic or it can be a regular topic but the writer must make it interesting by adding his or her personal ideas to make it different from the other writings about this topic.
The language shouldn't be formal. Creative writing shouldn't be in the format of an essay so that's why it can be written from the writer's daily language or it can be personal.
The topic should surprise the readers. If it can be against the original, it can be different. For example if it’s a story, the characters can be different from the normal life. That would make it interesting. Giving something else to the readers would surprise them.
If the writing has lots of good descriptions about the places that are in the writing, it can make the readers interested in it, too. Readers would like to read things that they can relate to and that they can imagine in their heads. If the writer can help the readers imagine the story or the places in their hands in the best way he or she can, that writing could be interesting.

While writing my creative writing piece this week, I tried doing something different. I wrote a story by making a relation with a painting. I made up the story of a painting. I made new characters. These characters were mostly characters that could be in real life. In my story I added a fly that could talk. I think that that made it interesting, because I believe that, that was something different from other stories of famous paintings. I tried writing characters’ emotions in a realistic way. I wanted the readers to feel what the main characters were feeling. That’s why first I needed to use an informal language. I repeated some words so that the readers could understand the power of the emotions that some characters were feeling.
I believe that doing something unpredictable was interesting for my writing, because all of the stories of famous paintings have normal life characters, for example in the book called “Girl With A Pearl Earring”, there is a real life situation. The characters are appropriate to the century that the story takes place. On the other hand, in my story while there are real life characters, there are also imaginary characters like a talking fly.

Creative writing is a personal writing that should be related to writer’s ideas and also readers’ interests.

Johnny and The Clocks -Full Draft-

It was a sunny afternoon when children were out of schools and preparing to go to vacation. Johnny was scared and happy. He was scared because he had never been on a ship before and he was happy because he was going to go to a cruise tour. His mom picked him up from the school that day. They went directly to the terminal.

Johnny was confused  with emotions. He didn't know what to feel. This was a first time experience. When he took his seat in a restaurant on the ship, the ship started moving. He got scared and held on to his mom. Then he acted like nothing happened. After the dinner in the restaurant he went back to his room. After a while he got bored and decided to meet some new friends. The first thing he did was to go to the basketball fields.

On the rooftop there were two blue basketball fields that seemed so interesting to Johnny who has never played basketball in the middle of the ocean before. He saw two kids his age and decided to go next to them. He said "Hey! I'm Johnny can I play with you guys?"  One of the boys said "Look who's here Derek! A kindergarden boy that thinks that he can play basketball!" Johnny was shocked and scared. He went back to his room and started crying. After a while his mom came and asked Johnny what was happening. He didn't say anything and went outside. His mom was following him. When they went to the rooftop Johnny didn't know that his mom was just behind her so when he saw him he started arguing with her because he didn't want to be seen with her. Her mom couldn't understand why but she got angry and went to the room.

Johnny spent the days trying to prove the boys that he is not a "kindergarden" kid. While he was doing that he never cared about his mother.

One night Johnny woke up with a terrible shaking on the ship. The ship was broken. They were dying. Everybody was dying. Unless they didn't do anything to save themselves. Johnny's mother took Johnny and made him travel with a rescue boat. There were ten people in that boat. Johnny, two Indian couples, four kids, a French couple and a Malaysian women.

Two days after the accident he found an island. He did. The other people were dead because they couldn't find water so they drank salt water. Johnny was afraid. Now he was afraid of everything. Now he knew the feeling of being afraid and how it makes someone feel like nothing's gonna be alright.

He searched the island. No one was living there, no one except this little fly named Wings. Wings felt super happy after seeing Johnny. He was not gonna feel alone anymore, but things were different for Johnny. When he first saw a fly that could speak he reacted as he should, surprised, but when days passed he got used to it and he started hating Wings. He was feeling like Wings was the most frustrating thing ever.

Wings was always asking him about his hobbies, favorite movies, favorite animals and his family. He never spoke to Wings especially about his family. Johnny treated Wings in a bad attitude. He always told him to be quiet and to get out of this island.

58 days passed. Wings started to get sick. Johnny didn't care. The first time he went for a walk on the island was the first day he got there. He saw three silver clocks and a red clock. He thought about going there again to see if someone came back for their clock. He was shocked by what he saw. The clocks were melting except the red clock. He stayed there until the sun set and when the sun set the clocks were gone and so was Wings. He didn't get it. Why Wings was gone? He cried over him like a baby crying for food. Now he was scared. Now he didn't know what to do. Now he was alone. Now he understood the value of his mom and of the people that loved him like Wings. Now he was lost. Now there was no one to save him.

He knew he missed his mother. He understood why she always wanted the best for him. "Nothing's gonna be alright." Johnny said. He was like a bug that was turned upside down and trying to walk again. Nothing made sense to him. He felt like he didn't know the meaning of lost until that day.  He went to see the clocks again. It was too late. They were all stopped working and melted except the red clock. Johnny took the red clock but couldn't. He dropped it and the clock was broken. Inside of it Johnny found a note saying "To my son, Johnny."

About My Essay

I think that my essay describes the drawing in a descriptive language. I have described the background, the foreground, the objects, the colors and tones and the emotions. I believe that the connections that I made between the emotions and the other parts like colors or background have worked well. Personally I think that I was successful while explaining contrasts and while making connections between paragraphs. I have described the drawing in a descriptive language and  have talked about everything that makes this essay a description of a drawing.

On the other hand, I think that I could have talked more about the background of the drawing. I also could have talked more about the red clock that doesn't melt in the drawing. I might have left some unexplained parts about the drawing like the objects that are in the background. I could have add more transitions between the phrases. I could have used more descriptive language to make my essay to be able to be understood by everyone who didn't see the drawing.

Writing about the connections between emotions and other topics was difficult for me since there were a lot to write but they were difficult to realize.

The Persistence Of Memory by Salvador Dali

The Persistence Of Memory is a drawing by Salvador Dali. He drew this piece of art in Spain in 1931. I believe that he had a strong message to the people while he was drawing it. This painting contains so many strong and important messages that we should be aware of. In my opinion the painter wants to say that time is something that runs off so quickly and that we have limited times so we shouldn't waste it, because our lives are short.

There are so many important objects that carries different messages. On the left of the picture we can see a red pocket watch that does not melt while other clocks are melting. The clock does not show the time. Its color is different and its size is different, too. It is much smaller than the other pocket watches. There are three other silver pocket watches that are melting. They all show different times. They are much bigger than the red clock. One of the clocks is hanging from a twig that is located in a table. There is an other rectangular shaped table behind the twig. There is a mountain and there is a rock; one of the clocks is melting on that rock.

In the foreground there are three silver clocks that are melting and one red clock that is not melting. These three clocks that are melting show different times. They represent different humans, different lives since they all have different times. The clocks are melting so it means that these lives are going to end soon. It shows us that everyone has a limited amount of time. There is a twig on a table. I believe that the twig and a table has a contrast in them because twig is natural but tables was made by humans. There is also a rock. In the foreground we can't see light. The sun lights the background.
In the background there is a mountain, a sea and a rectangular shaped wood. The sun lights the mountain so it gives us a positive feeling about the mountain. I think that the reason why the drawer made the background a background that makes viewers feel hopeful and positive about it might be to make a contrast between the foreground and the background.

The colors that are used in this picture are mostly red or brown. It makes the drawing a little bit depressive since there are not much of light colors. In the background where the mountain is, there is more white than there is red or orange. I think it's because there is light in the mountain.

In the drawing there are only three clocks that are melting. The fourth clock is a red and a much smaller clock. I think that each of the clocks
that are melting represent a person's life, because they all show different hours. These clocks are representing that these lives have a limited time
and it's ending. The red clock doesn't melt because it might not represent a life; it might represent a normal clock or it might be a clock that has already melted. The mountain that is located behind the clocks might be representing the hope since there is light.

The emotions that Dali wanted to give are sadness, fear, hope and  loneliness. Sadness appears in the colors. The colors are the ones that make the drawing look depressive and sad. Most of the colors that Dali chose to use are dark colors like red and brown. I believe that he gives the fear and loneliness with a picture of a lonely island. There is a fly on top of one of the silver clocks. That fly shows us that this place has abandoned or there were nobody there before. He gives the emotion of hope by using bright colors for the mountain.

The most significant contrast in this drawing is the contrast of the colors and the lights. While there is light in the background, the foreground is dark. Another contrast is the contrast of natural and unnatural. The twig in this drawing is located on the top of a wooden table and there is a clock that is hanging from the twig. I believe that he made a contrast of what is natural and what is unnatural.

I believe that this drawing has so many hidden messages and important informations. The clocks shouldn't be considered as just clocks; they represent somethings. Viewers should also consider the background; why there is a mountain and a wooden table?

The Persistence Of Memory

The Persistence of Memory is a painting by Salvador Dali. This painting is famous with its melted clocks. The clocks are making it interesting.
In this painting there are four clocks that show different times and has different colors and styles. There is even a fly on one of the clocks. The reason why the clocks are melting is because the artist tries to describe the wasted moments and the limit of our lives. Every clock represents different kinds of humans since they all show different times and they have different styles. In this painting the painter says that every human has a limited time and it is flying. We can understand that the time is flying by looking at the melting clocks, because if something is melting than it means that that things is going to disappear. In this drawing melting is a negative thing. There are two parts in this drawing: the part with the mountain and the part with the clocks. The part with the clocks doesn't have sun light, but the other part does. It shows that the part with the clocks symbolizes a bad emotion like loneliness or sadness. The part with the mountain symbolizes a good emotion like freedom or happiness. The colors that are used in this picture are mostly brown, orange and red. These colors are dark colors that makes the drawing a little bit depressive. In the foreground we can see the clocks, the table, a twig and a rock. In the background there is a mountain, a rectangular shaped wood and the sea.
The emotion that the painter tries to give are negative emotions. There are no people in this drawing which makes the drawing lonely. There is a significant contrast between the table and the twig, because the twig is something that is natural but the table was made by humans. The reason why the clocks are on an island is to give the emotion of loneliness, because islands are used mostly to represent loneliness and fear, since there are no people. Because of the island this drawing represents loneliness. The light is not in everywhere, so that's why it also represents sadness because there isn't light on the clocks.
The message that the artist tried to give is not to waste our times because everybody has a limited amount of time. He says that every clocks is going to melt one day.

Who am I and Why am I taking this course?

There are three songs that I can relate to. They are Shake It Off by Taylor Swift (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XrUJzbK6pRI), Stronger by Kelly Clarkson (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Xn676-fLq7I) and Count On Me by Bruno Mars (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yJYXItns2ik).
In the song Shake It Off, it talks about not minding people's opinions about you and just doing whatever you like. I'm the kind of person that doesn't mind if someone tells something bad about me or does something bad to me. It tells to do what you love in the way that you want which makes me feel confident. The song is an upbeat song and I love upbeat songs like this. I'm the kind of person that  wants to try new and different things everyday. I can say that my life is kind of like an upbeat song. It is full of new experiences and different events.
The song by Kelly Clarkson named Stronger is a song that tells you to be strong towards the things that you are scared of and that you should never give up on something that you want to achieve. I think that this song has an amazing topic, because everybody has fears and everybody has dreams that they want to achieve. I have lots of fears. For example, fear of being unsuccessful was a problem for me when I was at 8th grade. I used to be afraid of exams because I thought that I was going ro fail, but now I am always ready for any kinds of exams. Not just for the school exams but also for the ones that are in the life.
I really love having friends and being able to trust them. The song by Bruno Mars named Count On Me is about saying a friend that they can count on you on anything. I have two best friends that have never left me for 10 years. They became like my sisters. That's why I know that I can trust them and they know that they can trust me, too. I really care about friendships, because having a friend makes you feel more comfortable and confident.
Academic Goals For This Class
1-I want to develop my essay writing skills.
2-I don't want to have any issues with grammar.
3-I want to be able to write a novel.

Best Line From Carpe Diem

The line that says "Love your work, and enjoy your play. remember, there is little lasting joy in things done only for gold or fame." in Carpe Diem means that nothing can be done well without love. You have to love what you do so that you can enjoy it. Because if you love what you do you won't have regrets or bad feelings about it. If you do what you have to do with love, you might end up being successful and happy, but if you do your work by thinking money or fame, you might not be successful and happy. Even if you are, it won't last long.

What makes a positive & effective clasroom community?

To make a clasroom positive and effective we have to be respectful to each other. When we act respectfully we can listen to each other and learn from each other. We need to have good teamwork to develop our relationship with our friends. Being creative can help us to find solutions to some problems in the classroom. If everyone follows the rules there won't be any disagreements and people will respect each other. We have to have a positive attitude to be able to interact with poeple in a nice way.
